About Gwen
Gwen Cooper is the New York Times bestselling, traditionally- and self-published author of numerous books for cat lovers, with more than 1,000,000 copies of her books in print in some two-dozen languages around the world. Memoirs include Homer's Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned About Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat and Homer: The Ninth Life of a Blind Wonder Cat. Gwen’s other works include the novel Love Saves the Day, narrated from the point-of-view of a cranky tabby named Prudence, and PAWSOME! Head Bonks, Raspy Tongues, and 101 Reasons Why Cats Make Us So, So Happy.
Gwen is a frequent speaker at shelter fundraisers across the U.S. and Europe. Upon publication of her novel Love Saves the Day, Gwen launched a first-of-its-kind national book tour of no-kill shelters rather than bookstores. The tour visited 20 no-kill shelters in cities including Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Kansas City, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and Miami. The tour was underwritten by Arm & Hammer Ultra-last Clumping Cat Litter and Litter Genie, who—along with several national cat-food brands—made product donations to each of the shelters visited on the tour. Gwen donates 10% of all her royalties on sales of Homer’s Odyssey to organizations that serve abused, abandoned, and disabled animals. In 2010, she traveled to North Carolina to donate $10,000 from her first Homer’s Odyssey royalty check to Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary.
Gwen lives in New Jersey with her husband, Laurence. She also lives with her two perfect cats—Clayton "the Tripod" and his litter-mate, Fanny—who aren't impressed with any of it.
